Dr Spiegel literally saved my reconstruction! I had a first surgery back in the UK (mastectomy and reconstruction), and had expanders placed, but had pretty serious complications - hematomas, capsular contraction on my right side. The feel and look were quite bad, but the chronic pain was the hardest to deal with. I reached out to Dr Spiegel earlier this year for a revision surgery, hoping she can take me on as a patient. Not only did her and her team respond promptly, but they showed a level of care and commitment I hope any patient can experience. I had my surgery in May and the result has been fantastic - the pain is gone, which I thought was the most important criterion. But seeing how the implants look and feel as well, aspects I had dismissed, I am so happy I decided to have Dr Spiegel and her team deal with my revision. These 'smaller' aesthetic details are so important for our well-being - now, even my brain is actually tricked and cannot make the difference between before and after, and this has significantly improved my relationship with my body. Dr. Spiegel was amazing to work with!! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2020. That was during Covid so my first time meeting her was on a Zoom call. She thoroughly explained everything to me and showed me pictures that would help me understand what was going to happen. Everything I knew about implants had changed, but she put me at ease right away with her calm informative demeanor. I was referred to Dr. Spiegel after bi-lateral cancer was discovered and recommendations were to have a double mastectomy. Before meeting Dr. Spiegel, I reviewed the numerous procedures and options on her website. I learned a tremendous amount and knew what questions to ask at our first meeting. She immediately provided a peace about the recommended procedures for my circumstances. Her assistants and staff provided all the information I needed during the decision making process. I was provided a detailed timeline of how to prepare for the surgery and recovery! The entire process was laid out for me. When challenges were presented after a pre-surgery scan, Dr. Spiegel let me know she would do her best. And she did. I went to Dr SPIEGEL after I was diagnosed with the BRCA-2 gene. She recommended a breast lift and reduction, followed by a double mastectomy, followed by fat grafting over the implants. I am at the end of the journey and could not be happier or more satisfied with the results. I am in my mid-fifties and my body looks better after the surgery than it did prior. I was able to keep my nipples and the final result looks like I had excellent cosmetic surgery. The implants are very natural looking and feeling. My husband was at my side throughout the process and he too is ecstatic with the outcome. Dr SPIEGEL and her staff feel like family now. She and her two PAs are caring, compassionate, and skilled. I cannot sing their praises highly enough. The office staff are efficient and responsive. Everyone was quick to answer a question whether by phone or via My Chart app. I live a few hours from the office and we were able to combine in person visits with video visits to reduce the driving. Dr. Spiegel is my guardian angel and I owe her and her entire team and staff a debt of gratitude that I will ever be able to repay! I am one year out from my original Diep flap surgery with her and I feel great- like myself again! After undergoing a prophylactic mastectomy ( due to testing positive for the BRCA 2 gene and strong family cancer) and getting breast implants with another doctor, Dr. Spiegel saved my life by removing the implants and performing Deip surgery. The implants cased me so much pain and diminished my quality of life but now I have it back. I have no more pain and my breasts are soft again and created from my very own tissue. The whole process from start to finish took a holistic approach to treating the patient. I ended up getting the DIEP Flap reconstruction surgery, and I was very worried about the final results - not just the look of the breasts, but also the abdominal scar. Aldona Spiegel is the VERY BEST BREAST RECONSTUCTION Specialist in Houston. I had a double mastectomy, due to her recommendation (even though I had 3 tumors on only 1 breast). Man, was I impressed. Heck, I went up one cup bigger than I was originally and my body looks better than when I went in. I have had bras made for me and the ladies who work to "fit me", say "Oh my gosh, WHO did you have do your surgery! I have never seen such a GREAT OUTCOME! I said, Really? What do you normally see?
